The Sages tell us in Pirkei Avot that one of the most significant character traits that one must acquire is having an 'ayin tova' - seeing things in a positive way. The Mishna also mentions that this is one of the basic character traits of our forefather Abraham. What is so special about it and why is it so essential?
Moses had a great desire to enter the holy land, but G-d didn't let him. In this week's Torah portion G-d tells him to climb up the Avarim mountain and look at the land. Even though he wasn't allowed to enter, he was able to connect to the spiritual energy of the holy land by looking at it! By focusing on the positive things around us we live in a beautiful positive world, and create a wonderful atmosphere around us. That itself will make us grow to be an even better person.
According to the mystics the special spiritual potential of the Hebrew month of Tamuz is growing in regards to our eyes.
May we all merit to make this world and especially the ITV family a more positive and united place.
